SteelMint’s price assessment for sponge iron in Rourkela stands at INR 34,500/t, up INR 1,000/t on 1 Oct’21. Around 1,400 t of C-DRI (70:30 mix material) deals were confirmed in the range of INR 34,000-34,500/t exw. Demand remained limited today, as buyers had placed sufficient orders yesterday and were cautious of making further bookings. However, higher coal prices are keeping sponge iron prices strong.
