Shipbreaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang increased by INR 400/t, d-o-d. Heavy Melting Scrap (80:20) prices are assessed at INR 35,900-36,000/t exw, while attachment scrap prices have been reported at INR 36,900-37,000/t exw. Limited availability in Alang amidst subdued demand by Bhavnagar-based IF units have forced sellers to increase scrap offers. However, narrowing margins from scrap to ingot – assessed at around INR 6,000-6,300/t – is a major concern.
