Steel exports from Vietnam recorded a sharp growth of 33.8% m-o-m in Aug’21, according to data maintained with SteelMint. Exports in the month stood at 1.54 million tonnes (mn t) with China and the United States as the major importers.
The sharp increase in exports was mainly attributed to the impact of the epidemic in Vietnam’s domestic market which compelled domestic steel producers to explore opportunities in the exports market.
Meanwhile, steel exports prices in Vietnam also increased by 1% in August over last month.
In Jan-Aug’21, total steel exports from Vietnam totalled 8.54 mn t, an increase of 43.4% y-o-y. The main export destinations in this period were China and Cambodia, data reveals.
