Tata Steel has received environmental clearance (EC) for expansion of the Katamati iron ore mine to 13.50 mn t/year from 8 mn t/year, along with a 4 mn t/year beneficiation plant within the mining lease area of 403.32 ha. The lease is located in Odisha’s Joda mining circle. Tata Steel is also planning to raise iron ore production from Khandbandh and Joda East mines in Odisha.
