SteelMint’s assessment for sponge iron in Odisha’s Rourkela stands at INR 31,800/t on 22 Sep’21. A total of 3,000 t of C-DRI (70:30 mix material) deals were confirmed in the range of INR 31,500-32,000/t exw. A deal for 750 t (100% lumps) was also concluded at INR 32,250/t exw-Rourkela. SteelMint learnt from sources that higher coal and pig iron prices are keeping sponge iron prices supported.
