In a confirmed deal, about 8,000 t of South African RB3 (4800 NAR) grade coal was booked at INR 9,450/t at Gangavaram Port. RB2 (5500 NAR) grade coal prices continued to remain high at INR 11,000/t. Amid domestic coal supply crunch, the sponge iron sector has been largely resorting to procuring imported South African coal at higher prices.
