Vietnam: Coal imports rise by 6% in Aug’21

Coal imports by Vietnam has risen by 6% m-o-m to 3.8 mn t in Aug’21, as per customs data. Imports from Indonesia were the highest at 1.86 mn t, while coal imports from Australia stood at 1.49 mn t. However, on y-o-y basis the country’s coal imports have registered a fall of 18%. With the sharp rise in thermal coal prices this year, the value of imports by Vietnam rose to $495.4 million, up 63%, y-o-y.
