China: Ferrous scrap imports drop 54% on month in Aug’21

China imported 40,540 t of ferrous scrap in Aug’21. Imports fell sharply by 54%, m-o-m, as against 88,218 t in Jul, as per Steelmint data.
Japan remained the top exporter with 28,722 t followed by South Korea and the UK at 5,637 t and 3,260 t, respectively.
However on a y-o-y basis, the Chinese scrap import market saw an exceptional hike of around 800%.
