Jharkhand: Taurian Iron & Steel Lifts Iron Ore Prices

Taurian Iron & Steel has raised Iron ore lump prices by INR 500/MT w.e.f 20th May. Whereas, Iron ore Fines prices remain constant.

Prices gain strength because of Supreme Court interim order on 16 May’14, which stated suspension of Iron ore mining operations in the state of Odisha. Fines prices have been maintained looking at export parity and as is low grade (Fe 57-58%) material.

Prices w.e.f 20 May’14

5-18 mm (Fe 61-62%): 5,700
10-40 mm (Fe 61-62%): 5,200
Fines (Fe 57-58%): 1,300

All prices (INR/MT) on Ex-plant basis, including royalty
Additional cost of INR 200/MT for loading and transportation to nearest Railway siding

Since April, lumps is costlier by INR 700-800/MT. The company had raised prices by INR 300/MT in the beginning of this month, supported by improved demand by Sponge iron plants over upcoming Supreme Court interim order on Odisha Iron ore mining then.

In Apr 2014, Taurian lump prices had improved because of better demand from Sponge iron manufacturers based in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
