The Indonesian thermal coal index for nearly all grades rose sharply this week amid tight supply and increasing winter procurement demand from China. While high-CV 6500 GAR coal prices rose by $8/t, w-o-w, to $148/t FOB, 5000 GAR and 4200 GAR prices rose by $7/t and $5/t, respectively. Indonesian coal is being sold at a premium of $1-5/t above the index price, market participants informed.
