SteelMint’s export price assessment for sponge iron lumps (FeM 80%) stayed firm this week with fresh deals of 2,000-2,500t. The average price was at $455/t CPT Benapole, equivalent to $480-485/t CFR Chittagong, Bangladesh. Demand remains subdued with fluctuating scrap prices globally.
- Fresh offers for Nepal are at around $430/t for FeM 80% (mix of lumps/fines 70:30), loaded on to rake, eastern India, equivalent to $455/t CPT Nepal. Meanwhile, a deal for mini rake (1,250t) reported for FeM 80-82% (100% lumps) at around $442/t, loaded on to rake, eastern India.
