India: Billet prices rise by INR 1,000/t in Hyderabad

Billet prices in Hyderabad rose by INR 1,000/t on 14 Sept’21. Hike in sponge iron prices by INR 500/t, d-o-d, as well as scrap prices (at INR 34,700/t, up INR 400/t) are supporting prices. Supply shortage and slight fall in the production of billets because of heavy rainfall resulted in the rise in prices. SteelMint’s price assessment for Hyderabad billet (100x100mm, IS 2831) stands at INR 43,000/t exw.
