The opencast projects of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) in the Kothagudem region are facing extensive waterlogging caused by incessant rains over the past few days. Heavy rainfall has virtually brought the overburden removal operations to a grinding halt, curtailing the movement of high-capacity dumpers, shovels and other heavy machinery in the opencast projects. As per reports, the mines have faced production loss of 50-80% till 7 Sept’21. SCCL’s three key opencast projects were able to achieve daily output of 11,700 t against the targeted 36,700 t.
