In the eastern region of India, Iron ore exports from Haldia Port, saw a sharp decline in the first 2 months of current fiscal. In Apr’14, 0.17 MnT Iron ore was exported from Haldia Port, down by 40% in comparison to Mar’13.
No Export from Haldia in May’14
Iron ore exports from Haldia have fallen by 40% to 0.17 MnT in Apr’14 as compared to 0.29 MnT in Jul’13. There was no Iron ore export seen from Haldia during May’14 so far, as it is not feasible for Indian exporters because of drastic fall in China Iron ore prices.
In the last fortnight, prices have dropped by USD 8/MT. To make things most awful, INR has appreciated to 58 against USD.
