India: Sellers hold back portside RB2 offers in anticipation of price rise

Portside prices for South African RB2 (5500 NAR) coal at Indian ports have moved up to INR 10,500-11,000/t. Sellers are not offering bulk quantities at present in anticipation of a further rise in prices, market participants informed CoalMint. Domestic coal shortage has taken a turn for the worse, providing an opportunity to imported coal sellers. The landed cost of RB2 coal as per the current index is equal to INR 11,000/t, which provides a negligible margin to sellers at prevailing portside offers, a Delhi-based trader informed.
