A confirmed deal for 10,000 t of South African RB2 (5500 NAR) grade coal was heard at INR 9,800/t ex-Gangavaram, up against Monday’s average price of INR 9,450/t. With the RB1 (6000 NAR) grade index price touching $150/t yesterday and domestic coal shortage in India, sellers have raised offers to nearly INR 10,000/t levels, with the possibility of further hikes in the coming days in case the index goes up, market participants informed. Offers at Gopalpur port are heard at INR 10,700/t whereas at Mundra port offers are hovering at INR 10,200/t. Prices exclude cess and GST.
