China: Iron ore spot prices fall on stricter steel output curbs

The spot price of iron ore Fe 62% fines fell by $9.05/t to $143.55/t CFR China on 1 Sept’21 as China intensified steel production curbs in the country’s northeast region. According to market sources, nine mills in northeast China have received production cut notices. Mills in Shandong province have been ordered to complete their annual production target by end-Nov’21 as assessments and corrections are planned for Dec’21, sources said.
