China: Iron ore futures dip, steel futures rangebound

Iron ore futures on China’s Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) slipped by 1.8% day-on-day on 25 Aug’21, while futures contracts on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) fell by 2%, as per latest reports. Steel futures, on the other hand, remained mostly stable in today’s session. Closing prices of the most-active ferrous futures contracts:

  • DCE iron ore futures Jan’22 contract closed at RMB 802.5/t ($124) (-RMB 15)
  • SGX iron ore futures Sept contract closed at $147.45/t (-RMB 3.05)
  • SHFE rebar futures Jan’22 contract closed at RMB 5,236/t ($809) (-RMB 1)
  • SHFE HRC futures Jan’22 contract closed at RMB 5,569/t ($860) (-RMB 35)
