India: U.S. thermal coal portside prices at INR 10,000/t at Tuna

In a confirmed deal, 30,000 t of 6000 NAR grade U.S-origin thermal coal was traded at INR 10,000/t (excluding cess and GST) recently. Amid high Australian thermal coal and pet coke prices, U.S. thermal coal is getting preference, especially from the cement sector, given that it is comparatively cheaper on a per CV basis, market participants said. At present, U.S. 6000 NAR thermal coal prices are at $153-155/t, CFR India.
