Indian coking coal and PCI imports by traders rise 35.7% m-o-m to 0.41 mn t in Jul’21

Coking coal imports by Indian steel producers have increased by 34.3% m-o-m to 4.68 mn t in Jul’21. Importantly, India’s coking coal imports surged by 65% m-o-m to 5.76 mn t in Jul’21. Traders anticipate that imported coking coal demand would increase further on restocking needs, as the country’s steel plants have been operating at optimum blast furnace capacity levels in recent months.
