The crude steel output of China dropped by 8% to 86.76 million tonnes (mn t) in Jul’21 compared with 94.75 mn t a year ago, SteelMint learnt from data provided by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In Jun’21, steel output had stood at 93.88 mn t. Chinese mills have shifted their focus to cutting output in order to eliminate excess and obsolete steel capacities and reducing carbon emissions.
