High-grade Australian 6000 NAR thermal coal prices have increased by $10/t on week to $170/t today. The sudden rise in price is attributed to the ongoing lockdown restrictions in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley coal-producing region, which has impacted the free movement of labourers working in mines. While offers for high-ash 5500 NAR coal were last heard at $95/t, buyers from the key importing countries are resisting from quoting higher.
