Russia’s thermal coal exports to China up 62% on month in Jun’21

Amid China’s increasing appetite for imported coal due to the country’s rising power demand and the ban on Australian coal imports, Russia has emerged as one of the key thermal coal suppliers to China. Russia’s coal exports to China in Jun’21 were at 3.42 mn t, up 62% m-o-m and by 100% y-o-y. Russia’s total thermal coal exports in Jun’21 stood at 14.7 mn t, up 19% m-o-m and 11% higher compared to Jun’20.
