China’s total coal imports in Jul’21 stood at 30.2 mn t as against 28.4 mn t in June, up 6% m-o-m while the same rose by 16% compared to Jul’20, as per customs data. In The share of thermal coal was higher, among the total imports. China saw increased power demand in July due to more-than-usual hot days leading to increased thermal coal requirement during the month. On the supply side, floods in the major coal-producing province of Henan disrupted supplies, compelling buyers to resort to imports.
