The index for Indonesian high-CV 5800 GAR coal rose by $1.7/t w-o-w to $116/t FoB, while prices of 6500 GAR coal increased by $2.7/t on week to $125/t FoB. Coal producers in Indonesia are grappling with tight domestic supplies amid rising Covid-19 cases in that country. However, a sharp rise in prices was capped with Chinese traders retreating to the market sidelines amid the Chinese government’s efforts to boost domestic coal supply. The prices of 4200 GAR and 5000 GAR grade coal inched up marginally to $70/t and $100/t, respectively, while 3400 GAR coal was reportedly selling at $40/t.
