Indonesia’s benchmark coal price, also known as Harga Batubara Acuan (HBA), has been set at $131/t for Aug’21, up 14% on monthly basis. The benchmark price had touched $122/t in April, 2010. Slowdown in coal mining operations in the country due to rising Covid-19 cases, coupled with increased domestic and Chinese demand, are the key reasons behind the rise in Indonesian coal prices.
