The three-day block at Colombia’s Cerrejon railway line that occurred on 31 Jul’21, which stopped coal from arriving at Puerto Bolivar port, has been lifted, as per reports. Persistent tension between the mine authorities and the trade union, Sintracarbon, continues to raise concerns of more blockades. As per Cerrejon’s 2019 report, the railway has the capacity to transport around 0.15 mn t/day of coal. The three-day blockade is likely to have prevented about 0.45 mn t of coal from reaching Puerto Bolivar port.
