ArcelorMittal expanding green footprint in steelmaking

Steel behemoth ArcelorMittal has committed $1.4 billion of investments for implementing decarbonisation technologies at its Dofasco plant in Hamilton, Canada. At the heart of the plan is a 2 mn t DRI facility and an EAF unit capable of producing 2.4 mn t of high-quality steel through existing secondary metallurgy and casting facilities. The project is part of ArcelorMittal’s new global CO2 2030 emissions reduction target. It is a significant decarbonisation project outside Europe that is being spearheaded by ArcelorMittal.
