One of the largest producers of ferro chrome globally, South Africa’s Glencore has registered a y-o-y growth of 66% in ferro chrome production to 773,000 t in H1 CY’21. The impressive growth in production can be attributed to a low yearly base on account of the suspended mining and smelting operations during the nationwide lockdown in South Africa in Q2 CY’20. The company expects to increase production marginally by 2% to 1,430 kt in CY’21.
