Iron Pellet exports from India was negligible in FY13; saw a drastic pick up in FY14, after domestic Pellet prices stroke a life time low of INR 6,100/MT ( loaded at Barbil) in July,2013, coupled with weak INR and escalation in Pellet making capacity.
India largely exports Pellet to China owing to lower freight charges. The quantity was 1.2 MnT last fiscal. In FY14, chief Pellet exporters from India were Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) followed by Essar Steel. Paradip Port on the east coast was the major export port at 0.8 MnT.
