Adani Enterprise to bring South African capesize vessels at Mundra and Dhamra port by 23 July

CoalMint’s vessel line-up data reveals, a capesize vessel (0.18 mn t) of Adani Enterprise from South Africa is scheduled to arrive at Mundra Port while another vessel of 0.16 mn t is set to arrive at Dhamra Port. A volume of 92,635 tonne would arrive at Gangavaram and 80,000 tonne at Mormugao Port between 16- 23 July’2021.

Subsequently, Adani Enterprise continues to top the list of buyers bringing the highest volume of thermal coal cargo from various origins at 1.42 mn t, of which, around 0.51 mn t is coming from South Africa, 0.37 mn t from Indonesia and 0.39 from Australia.

This is followed by JSW Energy, with 0.22 mn t coming in from Australia, and 0.15 mn t from Russia, while Swiss Singapore is the third largest receiver with 0.37 mn t.

A total volume of 3.7 million tonnes (mn t) of thermal coal is slated to arrive at Indian ports between 16 Jul-6 Aug’21 from various origins.

Mundra Port set to receive highest quantity

Mundra Port overtook Gangavaram Port this week to become the highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.7 mn t, with 0.25 mn t coming in from Australia, 0.27 mn t from Indonesia, and 0.18 mn t from South Africa.

Following Mundra, Kandla Port is set to receive the second-highest volume of 0.51 mn t with the maximum quantity of 0.45 mn t arriving from the US, and 61,050 t is arriving from Indonesia.

Hazira Port is the next highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.41 mn t with 0.23 mn t arriving from Indonesia, 75,000 t from Australia, 65,000 t from South Africa, and 40,000 t from Russia. 

Highest quantity arriving from Indonesia

Out of the total volume of thermal coal arriving from the various countries, the highest is coming from Indonesia at 1.2 mn t,  followed by South Africa at 0.89 mn t.

In case of vessels arriving from Indonesia, the highest volume is coming for Adani Enterprise with 0.37 mn t, followed by Coastal Gujarat Power at 0.19 mn t.

As for South African coal, Adani Enterprise also booked the highest volume of 0.51 mn t, followed by Tata Steel with 0.16 mn t.

As for the US coal, Swiss Singapore has booked the highest volume of 0.32 mn t, arriving at Kandla and Dharamtar ports. This is followed by Cosmol Energy with 0.13 mn t coming in at Kandla Port.
