Collectors of six mineral-rich districts– Angul, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur — have been asked to implement revised freight rates for mineral-laden goods carriages.
On July 6 the state transport authority revised rates, last fixed in September of 2017, taking into consideration the increase in diesel prices, from INR 58.99 on 7 September 2017 (when rates were last revised) to INR 97.45 on 7 July 2021.
The rate cap has been fixed for loaded trips from source to destination taking into account , with a 40 % compensation, for the empty return trip the truck will make. For trips of less than 50 km the maximum fixed charge is on a per day basis, which is in addition to the variable freight charge for a one way trip.
