Indian ports to receive 3 mn t of thermal coal till early-Aug’21

The vessel-line-up data (as on 9 Jul’21) maintained with CoalMint reveals that a total volume of 3.3 million tonnes (mn t) of thermal coal is slated to arrive at Indian ports between 7 Jun-9 Aug’21 from various origins.

Gangavaram Port overtook Dhamra Port this week to become the highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.42 mn t, with 0.20 mn t coming in from Mozambique, 0.12 mn t from the US and 92,365 t from South Africa.

Following Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam Port is set to receive the second-highest volume of 0.40 mn t with the maximum quantity of 0.15 mn t arriving from South Africa, followed by 0.13 mn t from Australia, and 0.12 mn t from the US.

Dahej Port is the next highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.35 mn t with 0.15 mn t arriving from Australia, 0.13 mn t from Indonesia, and 71,500 t from China.

Highest quantity arriving from Indonesia

Out of the total volume of thermal coal arriving from the various countries, the highest is coming from Indonesia at 0.71 mn t followed by the US at 0.69 mn t.

In case of vessels arriving from Indonesia, the highest volume is coming for Agarwal Coal at 0.15 mn t followed by Adani Enterprise at 0.14 mn t.

As for the US coal, Ultratech Cement booked the highest volume of 0.25 mn t, followed by Swiss Singapore with 0.20 mn t.

As for South African coal, Adani Enterprise booked the highest volume of 0.27 mn t, arriving at Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam, and Mormugao ports. This is followed by Rashmi Group’s vessel of 0.17 mn t coming in at Dhamra Port.

For vessels arriving from Australia, the highest volume of Australian coal was booked by Adani Enterprise at 0.22 mn t followed by JSW Energy at 0.14 mn t.

Adani Enterprise tops buyers’ list for sixth week in a row

Adani Enterprise topped the list of buyers for the sixth consecutive week, with 0.89 mn t, of which , around 0.27 mn t is coming from South Africa, 0.14 mn t from Indonesia, 0.10 mn t from the US, 0.22 mn t from Australia, and 0.17 mn t from Mozambique.

This is followed by Swiss Singapore, with 0.20 mn t coming in from the US, and 60,000 t from Indonesia. Ultratech Cement is the third largest receiver with 0.25 mn t.
