Thailand: Ferrous scrap imports jump 27% on month in May’21

Thailand’s ferrous scrap imports were recorded at 0.14 mn t in May’21 against 0.11 mn t in Apr, up 27% on a monthly basis. It deserves special mention that, on a yearly basis, the country witnessed an exceptional hike of 133% against 0.06 mn t of scrap imports in May’20, as per SteelMint data. Australia was the leading exporter to Thailand in May’21 followed by the US and Japan.
