China’s pig iron imports declined 44% in May’21 to 91,858 t compared to 163,224 t in Apr, according to customs data maintained with SteelMint. On a year-on-year basis, imports plummeted 65% against 264,698 t in May’20. Increase in domestic pig iron output could have resulted in lower imports. China’s pig iron output rose by around 5% in Jan-May’21.
