Melting scrap prices witnessed a downward correction across major scrap-based markets in the country on 22 Jun’21, as per SteelMint assessment. Prices moved down by up to INR 800/t, especially in the Alang market, following decreasing sponge iron and semi-finished steel prices, with limited transactions being witnessed in the finished steel segment. However, in other markets melting scrap prices corrected by around INR 200-500/t. Minor changes in prices could be expected in the near-term, trader sources told SteelMint.
