According to market sources, China’s central safety watchdog, the State Administration of Work Safety, has dispatched 16 supervision groups to 31 provinces in order to strengthen safety measures at coal mines ahead of the 100th anniversary celebrations of China’s Communist Party on 1 Jul’21. Stricter safety checks are likely to compound recent supply tightness in China, which has been triggered by production cuts by many miners and increased demand during summer.
