South Korea: CRC exports up 33% y-o-y in May ’21

South Korea’s finished flat steel exports stood at 1.816 mn t, up 22% year-on-year compared with 1.49 mn t in the year-ago period, as per customs data maintained with SteelMint.

Product-wise exports:

• HRC exports stood at 623,024 t, down 3% y-o-y compared with 640,435 t in the same period last year.
• CRC exports increased 33% y-o-y to 319,008 t against 240,119 t in May ’20.
• Major exporting destinations were Japan and China followed by the US and India.
• South Korea’s flat steel exports aggregated 9.291 mn t in Jan-May ’21.
