As reported, Australian thermal coal prices surged towards end-May and continued to remain elevated at $70-$72/t, FoB basis. Although no new transaction has been heard, market participants informed CoalMint that demand for high-calorific-value (CV) Australian coal is still firm and spot cargoes are not available. About 1.20 mn t of Australian thermal coal is expected to arrive at Indian ports in the 9-21 Jun’21 period, CoalMint’s vessel line-up data reveals.
