The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has removed the INR 1.30/unit subsidy for manufacturing industries based in Jalna, Wada, etc for May’21. The power charge for industries currently stands at around INR 7/unit, which varies depending on load and power consumption. Sources said the state government is planning to review the subsidy policy and it is expected that the reduced subsidy may get adjusted in Jun bills. However, due to rise in power costs in May producers claim melting costs rose by approximately INR 1,000/t, which supported semi-finished and finished long steel prices in the region.
