India’s non-coking coal imports fall by 3% in May’21

India’s non-coking coal imports registered a fall of 3% m-o-m to 15.8 mn t in May’21 due to a sharp rise in imported coal prices and elevated vessel freight rates. Imports from the cement and power sectors registered a decrease of 29% and 21% respectively, while that from the steel sector plunged 36%, CoalMint’s vessel line-up data reveals.
