Pakistan’s ferrous scrap import prices have increased compared to the beginning of this week on improved trade, as per SteelMint data. A few deals were reported for around 5,000-5,500 t of containerised shredded scrap transacted at $508-510/t, CFR Port Qasim. Offers are moving north for UK-origin shredded scrap and are quoted at $515-520/t, CFR levels, as buyers are not in a position to procure big tonnages at the moment. SteelMint’s bi-weekly assessment for shredded scrap stands at $513/t, CFR Port Qasim, up by $15/t against the last assessment on 1 Jun’21.
