In FY21, India’s chrome ore production has dropped 51.45% y-o-y. According to sources, all the chrome ore mines in India remain affected by the global pandemic, but the reduction in production in the first half of the year was long apprehended due to the chrome ore mine block auctions in Odisha.
Odisha alone caters to 98% of the total chrome ore production in India.
In FY21, OMC becomes the top chrome ore producer in India with .88 mn t of chrome ore production. OMC’s production increased by 10% y-o-y in FY21. Besides OMC, the production of all other producers saw a significant decrease.
