In financial year 2020-21 (FY’21), India’s iron ore exports were reported at 46.5 million tonnes (mn t), up around 86% compared to FY’20.
Exports across grades saw a significant y-o-y jump in FY’21. A volume of 28.72 mn t of Fe 55% to below 58% grade was exported, up 60% y-o-y.
Exports of low- and high-grade iron ore also saw a significant increase. Exports of low-grade iron ore (below 55%) increased by 155% to 5.6 mn t, while high-grade iron ore (60% to below 62%) jumped 124% to 5.4 mn t.
