India: Odisha iron ore production rises to 13.47 mn t in Apr’21

Odisha has recorded total iron ore production at 13.47 mn t in Apr’21- almost 136% higher than 5.7 mn t in Apr’20, SteelMint data shows. The Apr’20 volumes were lower due to lost time in the transfer of leases of auctioned iron ore mines amid the outbreak of the first wave of COVID-19. Production has also increased on monthly basis against 12.5 mn t in Mar’21. Out of the total iron ore produced from Odisha’s mines in Apr’21, the largest share was contributed by JSW Steel at 2.03 mn t followed by OMC at 1.82 mn t and Tata Steel at 1.55 mn t.
