World crude steel production touches 169.5 mn t in April

World crude steel production for the 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association stood at 169.5 mn t in Apr ’21- an increase of 23.3% vis-a-vis 137.5 mn t in Apr ’20. However, Apr ’21 output was marginally lower than 170.11 mn t recorded in Mar ’21. Top producer China churned out 97.9 mn t of crude steel in the month, up 13.4% on Apr ’20. India produced 8.3 mn t, up 152.1% on year, while Japan and the US produced 7.8 mn t and 6.9 mn t respectively.
