China’s ferrous scrap imports up 67% to 76,250 t in April

China imported 76,250 t of recycled steel raw materials (ferrous scrap) in Apr’21, up 67.5% from Mar’21, SteelMint gleaned from Chinese customs data on 21 May. Japan accounted for 71% of the total at 54,057 t, while imports of South Korean-origin material are pegged at over 15,700 t in Apr’21. Since China restarted recycled steel raw material imports from Jan’21, a total 131,606 t has been imported up from 5,379 t in Jan-Apr’20.
