South Korean steel giant Hyundai Steel expects to restart operations at two of its hot rolling mills and the rebar plant heating furnace at its Diangjin steelworks at least after June’21. Operations at the Diangjin works remained suspended after an accident resulted in the death of a worker earlier this month. To ensure occupational safety, the country’s Ministry of Labour is about to conduct a special supervision for two weeks (20 May-2 June’21) on Diangjin steelworks and then on the head office. Flat steel export offers by Hyundai were cancelled due to this hiatus, SteelMint learned from latest reports.
