- Sourcing from state-based units fell to 53 rakes for the month

NMDC has supplied 386 rakes (1.48 mn t) of iron ore from its Chhattisgarh mines in the month of Apr’21, as against 504 rakes (1.94 mn t) a month before, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint. Miner’s dispatches fell as the impact of second wave of COVID resulted in reduced number of shifts for operations.
NMDC’s iron ore rake movement from its Chhattisgarh mines to state-based steel units stood at 53 rakes in Apr’21 compared to 74 rakes a month ago, as per railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.
NMDC announced a sharp price hike for Apr’21. The price of DR CLO (Fe 67%) was increased by INR 580/t, Baila lump by INR 500/t and that of fines by INR 250/t.NMDC announced a second price hike towards mid Apr’21. The price of DR CLO (Fe 67%) was increased by INR 1,280/t, Baila lump by INR 1,100/t and that of fines by INR 500/t.The changes in MMDR Amendment Act, 2021 for charging additional amount on grant/extension of mining leases granted after 2015, resulted in iron ore price hike.
NMDC’s supplies to outside state-based units down by 17% in Apr’21:The procurement by outside Chhattisgarh-based units dropped in Apr’21 to 333 rakes (about 1.28 mn t), against 402 rakes a month ago.
RINL’s total iron ore procurement decreased to 207 rakes for the month as against 264 rakes a month ago.
JSW Steel, Dolvi’s procurement from NMDC decreased 42% to 38 rakes as compared to 66 rakes in Mar’21.
Movement for exports dropped to nil in Apr’21 against 28 rakes in Mar’21.
