India: Odisha’s top ten iron ore miners in FY ’21

  • Tata Steel remained the largest iron ore producer registering around 37% y-o-y increase in production volumes.
  • JSW Steel produced 16.6 mn t ore in FY’21 from its four mines that it won in auction, exceeding the earlier set target of 13.5 mn t. It intends to enhance the production limits of three of its mining leases in the coming two to three years.
  • Miners that recorded sharp drop in production includes – Rungta (down by 66%), Essel Mining (down by 56%) and Serajuddin (down by 74%). Rungta and Essel lost a few of their mines in auction while Serajuddin faced stacking and other related issues resulting in lower production.
